"This project received unprecedented international media coverage over issues of censorship".

Working at times independantly and other times in collaboration, Garry Andrews has achieved recognition for many high quality, site- specific murals he produced for corporate, public and educational environments, from Sydney to Cairns.

History

The first site-specific mural Andrews produced was for the Innisfail Library, (Johnstone Shire Council) completed in 1982, it featured a "story-book" stylised interpretation of North Queensland rainforest flora and fauna.

He was able to develop mural painting skills to a high level whilst working with Public Art Squad on the high profile Darling Harbour, "Harbourside" redevelopment project during 1987-88. (See Oceania Fountain, Darling Harbour, pic, next page).

Teamwork, collaboration and creative problem solving were hallmarks of the Public Art Squad experience.
