Benefit from Garry's experience gained from over 25 years practice, Tafe teaching, mural painting and art commissions.

For Registered Training Organisations, Garry is a qualified trainer and is available to teach accredited visual art and design courses.

The following workshops are available for communities or schools. Workshops can be designed to meet specific requirements.

A workshop to extend your visual vocabulary
with art materials and art-making methods.

Duration 6 hours, Cost: $75. ($65 Full time students). Monoprinting plates, some paints/inks and some paper will be supplied.Monoprinting methods will be demonstrated.

Painting in acrylics and oils.
Exploring modernist approaches

Cost: $75 ($65 Full-time students)

This workshop is designed for those artists who wish to explore their creativity in the area of semi-abstract art.

Exploring modernist approaches.
A hands -on workshop which covers colour awareness, i.e. choosing a palette or colour concept, subject matter and treatment, composition and painting technique.
Participants to supply their own art media and canvas, and bring along...
A favourite object (small) to form (observational) subject material for your painting, or if working from photographs, use quality, clear images.
Sketch book/ visual diary or loose paper for quick sketches and/or preliminary composition studies.

*Painting 1, "Discover the Artist Within" : Acrylics, Oils Entry level/intermediate.Materials and media, composition, colour mixing, working from nature. N.B.* Program will proceed only with sufficient numbers.

*Painting 2: Acrylics, Oils- Intermediate/advanced level. Composition and design principles, colour study, ideas development, keeping a visual arts diary, and contemporary practices.
*Drawing1: Observational drawing- Working with still life concepts. Composition and design principles. Line, tone, texture and space.Colour awareness. Contrast. Form.

 

*Drawing 2: Mixed media expressions- Working with colour. Discover the expressive qualites of combining media, pastels, inks, acrylics, charcoal, collage. Conventional and unusual media and surfaces. Ideas development. Available as a one-day or two-day workshop.

*Portrait - Drawing and painting: Working from life and/or photographic sources. A life model will be present for this workshop. This workshop can be delivered as a one or two day intensive program, or structured as regular weekly classes. Content can be adapted to suit participants levels of experience. *Folio Development: Workshops and classes for upper secondary students and those considering tertiary art studies. Painting, life drawing, digital lab, photography, photographing your art. This workshop is designed for vocational training and academic articulation to Tafe programs and University. Contact the artist for further information. Delivery over ten weeks at 2 hours per week. Statement of Attendance issued on completion.

Secondary Art Tuition 1: One on one art tuition. Skills assesment and tailored program to individual needs.

Secondary Art Tuition 2: Tuition for small groups. After school hours. This program offers a reduced fee scale for groups of 4-8 students.

Garry is also available to deliver any of these workshops in High Schools. Blue Card holder.
